Care Providers Mark Special Anniversary

CARE providers from across the region will gather in York on Friday to mark a very special anniversary.

It is 20 years since the Independent Care Group (ICG) was set up to represent care providers in York and North Yorkshire.

At a special dinner and awards ceremony at the Principal York Hotel on Friday evening the group will celebrate the milestone.

ICG Chair Mike Padgham said:
“With so much doom and gloom around, it is nice to be able to celebrate an achievement like this.

“We are very proud to have supported hundreds of care providers and the many thousands of people they care for now, for two decades.

“In that time, we have achieved a lot – dramatically raising the profile of social care, getting a fairer price for the care our members offer and providing many hours of support and training for local care providers.

“We have much still to do and an uphill battle campaigning for a root and branch overhaul of social care in this country.

“We need to see the Government tackle the 1.5m people who aren’t getting the care they need and to make it properly recognize, respect and reward the amazing workforce who provide the care.”

During the evening, the ICG will present awards to people who have made a significant contribution to the organization over the past 20 years.
