Care Home Staff And Residents Throw ‘Hen Dubh’ For Bride To Be

A carer at Eilean Dubh care home in Fortrose has celebrated her ‘hen dubh’ with residents and colleagues.

Staff and residents at the Black Isle home threw the bash for Karen Ligertwood to celebrate her impending marriage in August to fiancé Paul.

As they partied with the bride to be, residents were keen to offer Karen some advice for the future, with Annie Stewart joking: “Make sure he always has a full belly!”

Karen thanked her colleagues and residents, saying: “It was a privilege to share an amazing memory with the fantastic team I work with, and the lovely residents I help care for. I did not expect to get such a good send off on my way to married life.”

Jackie Macrae, area manager for Parklands Care Homes, which operates Eilean Dubh, said: “Another fabulous event to show the bond between the staff and residents, one big happy family. Precious!”

Other pearls of wisdom from residents included “never go to bed on an argument” from Cathie Garrow and “always love him” from Dolen Jack. Pauline Mackay’s heartfelt advice was “be happy.”
