Care Home Sale Secures Jobs and Resident Care in Lanarkshire
A well-established care home in Lanarkshire has been successfully sold, ensuring stability for residents and staff. Bankhouse Care Home, located in Lesmahagow, has been acquired by Bellerose Care Limited, safeguarding the employment of 58 staff members and maintaining the care of its 40 residents.
The 49-bed nursing facility was previously operated by MHA Auchlochan, which entered administration in May 2023. The acquisition marks a positive step forward, bringing fresh investment and future development plans to the home.
Sam McDonald, Director of Bellerose Care, expressed enthusiasm for the acquisition, stating: “We are delighted to welcome Bankhouse Care Home into our family. Our priority is to work closely with the dedicated staff to uphold and enhance the high standards of care provided to residents.”
Under its new ownership, Bankhouse Care Home is set to benefit from a programme of improvements. Bellerose Care, which is associated with Avonhaugh Care Home in Stonehouse, aims to develop the home’s potential while reinforcing its role within the Lesmahagow community.
Blair Milne, Robert Young and James Fennessey, insolvency practitioners with accountancy firm Azets helped secure the deal. Milne added: “The joint administrators are delighted to have secured a going concern sale of Bankhouse Care Home, preserving the employment of all 58 staff and ensuring the continued care of all residents at Bankhouse.
“The administrators would like to thank Healthcare Management Solutions for their assistance with management of the care home throughout the administration process and all the staff at Bankhouse for their loyalty and support during what has been a challenging period. We wish the new owners and all staff every success for the future of Bankhouse Care Home. We remain focused on securing a going concern sale of the remaining assets as early as possible.”
Attention now turns to securing the future of MHA Auchlochan’s remaining assets, which include the Auchlochan Garden Village—a 50-acre retirement community comprising 235 residences and extensive amenities, as well as the Lower Johnshill Care Home situated within its grounds.
