Care Home Reunites Resident With Old Colleagues After 40 Years Service At RNLI Poole

Upton Bay care home in Hamworthy organised for resident Christine to be reunited with members of the RNLI and other friends who had worked alongside her..  Organised by Karen, Upton Bay’s Activities Lead, the group were warmly welcomed at the RNLI reception by Ali Murphy, the Volunteer Experience Manager, and four of Christine’s closest work colleagues and friends – Joyce, Carol, Caroline, and Kay.

These incredible women had worked together in various departments within the RNLI from 1976 to 2001, forming lifelong friendships that have lasted over 40 years.

As they enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea and shared cherished memories, Jayne George, the Head of Fundraising, presented Christine with a Long Service Certificate, and Ali Murphy gifted her with an RNLI Teddy bear named Milly.

The afternoon was filled with laughter, stories, and the warmth of old friendships, with Christine also reconnecting with familiar faces such as Heidi, a volunteer working in the gift shop.

Joyce expressed her gratitude to Karen for organising such a wonderful event, mentioning how touching it was to see Christine’s eyes light up with joy throughout the day. A special thank you to Ali Murphy, Jayne George, and the Catering and Restaurant Team of the RNLI for helping to make this afternoon truly unforgettable for Christine.

Mevin Sohorye, Home Manager at Upton Bay care home said:
“It is so lovely to see their smiling faces after being reunited at the local RNLI where they worked for many years.  Focusing on individual dreams is a priority at Upton Bay and we look forward to sharing many more with our lovely residents”.
