Care Home Open Day – Friday 17th

CareHomeOpenDayFor the fourth year in a row, care homes across the UK are encouraging their local communities to join them for a day of celebration. Care Home Open Day takes place tomorrow Friday, 17th June. The event is growing in popularity. This is due to increasing numbers of care homes realising the importance of developing lasting relationships with their local communities. By doing so they are also dispelling myths by showcasing what good care homes look like.

Care Home Open Day reinforces the fantastic work that care homes do throughout the UK. It also helps to highlight to the wider community that care homes are doing great things 365 days a year.

In a recent survey, carried out for Care Home Open Day by 4Media, 43% of respondents said they think it is important for there to be regular activities in a care home. 51% believe making new friends in a care home is important for their loved ones as they start a new chapter in their lives.

This year’s suggested theme of Celebration has really engaged care home residents, their families and friends, as well as staff and local people. Everyone involved in an open day is coming up with creative and innovative ideas for their event. With everything from celebrating the Queen’s 90th Birthday, the lives of residents, to a gardening competition with Growing Support, musical sessions, and dancing galore. There is a huge variety of activities going on.
