Care Home Managers Invited To Care Quality Seminar

Care home managers in South Gloucestershire are being invited to a seminar next month (May, 2014) looking at quality in health and social care.

The free ‘Working Better Together for Quality’ seminar, which takes place in Mangotsfield on Thursday, May 8, is being organised by NHS South Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and South Gloucestershire Council.

Kate Lavington, community services and vulnerable adults manager at South Gloucestershire CCG, said: “Care and nursing homes are an integral part of health and care services and community life here in South Gloucestershire. We are already working closely with them and funding a number of projects such as helping to improve diet and nutrition, providing clinical support, and infection control support.

“Managers who have already engaged with us have told us that they see real value in the projects we are funding for both their staff and residents.

“We’re inviting care and nursing home managers to come along to this seminar to find out what we have achieved so far and to find out more about projects they can get involved in this year.”

A new Leadership and Learning Programme, a joint venture between My Home Life and the University of the West of England, will also be launched during the seminar.

Guy Stenson, partnerships and commissioning service manager for children, adults and health at South Gloucestershire Council, said: “Leadership and Learning is a 12-month programme specifically designed for care homes and nursing homes in South Gloucestershire.

“It will offer 15 care home managers the chance to develop their professional leadership skills in delivering quality of life in care homes. The programme will run from June 2014 until May 2015 and is fully-funded – all we need from care home managers is their time and commitment.”

The free seminar takes place on Thursday, May 8 from 9.30am until 3pm at Cleve Hill Rugby Club, Cossham Street, Mangotsfield, Bristol, BS16 9EN. To book a place, please email your contact details to cchengagement@southglos.gov.uk or call 01454 862356.
