Care England Welcomes Jeremy Hunt’s Vision For Primary Care
Care England, the largest representative body for care providers, has welcomed the Secretary of State for Health’s new vision for primary care.
Prof Martin Green: Chief Executive of Care England, said:
“Older and frail people, many of whom live in care homes, need much better and more proactive support from GPs, and other primary care practitioners. The Secretary Of State for Health, has set out a clear view about how primary care services need to change to meet the needs of the 21st-century, and provide a seven day a week service for frail older people.
In recent research, Care England identified that many residential care homes were being forced to pay to get GP’s to provide care for their residents. Care England is committed to working with the Department of Health, NHS England and GPs. to ensure that care home residents receive high-quality and proactive primary care, and we applaud the Secretary of State, for addressing this challenging, but necessary issue ”
