Bowbridge Court Residents Bring a Taste of Hawaii to Newark with Tropical-Themed Coffee Morning

Residents at Bowbridge Court Care Home in Newark brought a touch of tropical sunshine to their community this week with a Hawaiian-themed coffee morning.

The summer celebration saw residents, relatives and staff come together for a fun-filled Hawaiian luau, complete with colourful decorations, tropical treats, mocktails and plenty of dressing up.

The idea came after residents enjoyed the home’s Mad Hatter-themed party in July so much that they asked for more themed events and the team was more than happy to deliver.

Guests arriving at the coffee morning were greeted by palm trees, parrots and a colourful Tiki bar stocked with refreshing fruit mocktails and sweet treats. The home’s kitchen team also prepared brightly decorated cupcakes alongside a delicious pineapple upside-down cake.

Residents had been busy in the run-up to the event, helping to decorate Tiki statues and make colourful leis to add to the tropical atmosphere.

Staff, residents and family members all embraced the theme by dressing up, helping to create a relaxed and joyful morning filled with laughter, conversation and shared memories.

The wellbeing team also used AI to create fun images of residents enjoying a Hawaiian beach, giving them a unique keepsake to remember the occasion.

“We love to see family and friends get behind the activities in the home. They really do make all of the hard work worthwhile.

“Residents have been busy all week decorating Tiki statues and making leis, and everyone’s day was brightened by the staff dressing up and being silly! We made lots of great memories.”
