I was a little starstruck at meeting them. I’ve supported Middlesbrough for as long as I can remember. I was overwhelmed at the gift they presented me with. So pleased that they signed it.One of the best days since I have moved here.

The Gables Care Home is one of several Hill Care Group homes across the region that has worked closely with the Middlesbrough FC Foundation.

The Foundation’s National Citizenship Service (NCS) students visit the homes and conduct voluntary work as part of their social action projects.

Julie Armstrong, acting home manager at The Gables Care Home, said: “We are so grateful to Middlesbrough FC for thinking of us and visiting the home.

“The residents were delighted with the gifts and meeting the under-23s players. Many of our residents are fans of the club so it meant a lot to them.

“The players were so friendly and chatty with the residents as well. It has really made their Christmas.”
