Birthday Card Appeal for 100 Year Old Brigid

A local care home resident who was born on 24 December 1921 will turn 100 on Christmas Eve this year.  Brigid, who now lives at Cheverton Lodge Care Home in Islington, will be 100 years young on 24 December 2021.

Brigid has no surviving family and so Cheverton Lodge is turning to the local community to help make her 100th birthday an extra special one. They are asking locals to send Brigid a birthday card and hoping to reach the target of 100 cards to fill the home with birthday love for Brigid.

Born in Dublin, Brigid came to the UK to train as a nurse in 1939. Brigid loved to ball room dance, she travelled all over the world with her husband who was in the Royal Marines. Brigid moved to Islington 40 years ago and worked locally as a dental nurse.

If you would like send Brigid a birthday card, please address it to Brigid Parker, Cheverton Lodge Care Home, 30A Cheverton Road, Islington N19 3AY and help us deliver 100 cards for Brigid!

As well as appealing for cards, Maria Martinez – Sanchez, Life Enrichment Coordinator at Cheverton Lodge, is arranging a special birthday celebration for Brigid on Christmas Eve. Brigid will be joined for a glass or two of fizz by residents and team members from Cheverton Lodge and Head Chef Laeeq is planning a birthday menu to include all of Brigid’s favourite foods.

Earl Elliott, General Manager of Cheverton Lodge, said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating a truly remarkable fun loving lady as she reaches this amazing milestone. Brigid is such a popular resident who always has an interesting tale to tell, and we look forward to hearing many more as she breaks into her next century. We hope the local community can get behind us and help us reach our 100 cards target.”
