Bideford Community Gathers At Care Village For Summer Open Day
Scores of families and local businesses turned out to enjoy a Bideford care home’s summer open day.
Kenwith Castle Care Village held an open day in aid of Age UK Devon for residents and local families to take part in a host of activities including arts and crafts, garden games, tombola, an ice cream van and tours of the care home.
The event was held in honour of Care Home Open Week, which ran from 24 to 30 June as annual event dedicated to showcasing the warmth, care and vibrant communities in care homes.
The care village features Kenwith Castle care home providing residential and dementia care, and assisted living bungalows, which benefit from a beautiful lake offering peaceful surroundings with countryside views, and the dedicated onsite Kenwith Pavilion and Pantry cafe and shop which stocks an array of everyday essentials.
Local businesses and community groups who attended the event include C&A’s Ice Cream, Lazy Hare Bites, Kenwith Castle Model Boat Club, Coastal Creative, and The Binge Box.
Jo Passmore, Home Manager at Kenwith Castle care home, said:
“We were absolutely thrilled to welcome so many families to come along to support our open day in the sunshine. It was great to show everyone the facilities at our care home and for them to have a chat to the residents. At Care South, we love welcoming the community into our care homes to build strong links with local community groups and businesses and celebrate the great care that we provide to the residents.”
