Bedhampton Court Residents Create A Time Capsule
Residents at Bedhampton Court in Havant have embraced the opportunity to leave their mark on history by creating a time capsule, which will be buried within the grounds of the care home for future generations to discover.
The project was a collaborative effort, with residents carefully selecting items to include. Newspapers from the week were added to provide a snapshot of the current world, alongside photographs showcasing the many activities and special moments enjoyed throughout the year. Sweets were also included, adding a touch of nostalgia for whoever uncovers the capsule in years to come.
Resident Margaret decided to personalise her contribution by writing down the foods she loves and those she’s less fond of. She explained, “It’s exciting to think that someone in the future will open this and learn about the little things that made our lives unique and special.”
The creation of the time capsule has been a wonderful way to celebrate both the past and the future as residents reflected on their own memories while imagining the curiosity of those who will one day uncover the capsule.
“This was such an exciting project for everyone,” commented Lauren, the Activities Coordinator at Bedhampton Court. “It’s amazing to think that years from now, someone will have a little window into what life was like here in 2025.”
The time capsule is set to be buried in a special ceremony later this month, marking a moment of connection between the residents of today and the future generations of tomorrow.
