Basildon-Based Care Home Manager Praised For Outstanding Leadership

BaslidonThe home manager at Mundy House Care Home in Basildon has been recognised as an outstanding leader by Essex County Council.

Josi George received the Outstanding Leadership Award at The Prospers 2018 Essex Care Sector Awards. The awards highlight innovative practice and outstanding achievement across the care sector.

This year, the awards board received more than 185 nominations, from 70 different organisations, across14 categories. The judging panel included representatives from Health and Social Care, County Councillors and award sponsors.

Josi was nominated for The Outstanding Leadership Award by his staff. He was recognised for his excellent leadership skills and hard work to create a family-friendly home.

Mundy House Care Centre, in Basildon, specialises in residential care for up to 66 people. The centre has its own bar and cafe, wheelchair access and is located close to shops and amenities, allowing residents to remain as active as possible within the community.

Josi’s award win stated: “Josi leads by example and is willing to roll up his sleeves and work alongside his staff be that in the kitchen, maintenance, administrative, care or gardening roles. He offers staff the opportunity to develop and empowers them by identifying potential in staff and supporting them to achieve their goals. Nominated by his staff team, Josi is recognised as an approachable, personable, committed and an inspiring leader.”

Josi said: “It is an absolute honour to win this award because I was nominated by my own team. Mundy House is a lovely place with a family feel, but I have a lot of people to thank for that.

“I am very proud of everyone I work with. I encourage my colleagues to better themselves and I am inspired to do the same. We work hard to make sure that Mundy House is a home and I accept this award on everyone’s behalf.”

Tony Stein, CEO of Larchwood Care, which operates Mundy House said: “Josi is a credit to both Mundy House and Larchwood Care. His passion, enthusiasm and dedication to make every day as fun, enjoyable and caring as possible, for staff, residents and visitors, is infectious. There is nobody more deserving of this award.”
