Barton Care Facility Celebrates 15 Years of Service

A care facility in Barton has marked 15 years of providing vital support to patients in the Staffordshire village, with a special anniversary celebration.

The Cottage Wing and Barton Mews extra care facilities, which are both part of Barton Health and Community Care Centre, welcomed guests to celebrate the milestone with a drinks reception and buffet lunch – including a celebratory cake.

Guests included councillor Julia Jessel – cabinet member for health and care at Staffordshire County Council who was involved in the creation of the services – along with councillor Bev Ashcroft and Louise Smith, practice manager at Barton GP Services.

The event also celebrated the long service of staff at the two sites, which are both run by Shaw healthcare. The staff, who have 325 years’ worth of combined experience, were presented with certificates, badges, Prosecco and plants.

Cottage Wing manager, Julie Turner, who worked as a nurse at the old Cottage Hospital since 1989 and later progressed to become a clinical nurse manager, was thanked for her 33 years’ service.

She said: “It has been a lovely afternoon to mark a fantastic 15 years of delivering high quality care here at Cottage Wing. The team here worked so hard, and it has been wonderful to see everyone recognised for their dedication and commitment to both of the services.”
