Avante’s Anne Child Awarded MBE For Services To Dementia
Head of Pharmaceutical Care and Clinical Standards awarded MBE for past services to dementia
Avante Partnership, a leading provider of residential dementia care in Kent and South East London, is delighted to congratulate Mrs Anne Child, who was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List, announced last weekend.
Anne joined Avante in 2012 as Head of Pharmaceutical Care and Clinical Standards with Avante Partnership and was granted the honour for services to people with dementia during her time as Senior Medicines Management Mental Health Lead Adviser, within NHS Kent and Medway from 2011 to 2012.

I am personally delighted that Anne has been awarded the MBE which is well deserved.”
Anne Child said
“I am absolutely delighted to receive this award in recognition for the work to create a new method to audit the prescription of drugs for dementia patients. It was a team effort of which I am enormously proud to have been a part of. I may have been awarded this honour but the unique supportive team without doubt made it all happen.
Improving the care of individuals in relation to managing low dose antipsychotic drug use in care homes, the subject of the team’s paper, remains an important area of research and at Avante we continue work in this area to make a real difference to the lives of those we care for and their families.”
Anne Child’s responsibilities within Avante Partnership include medication reviews and risk management policies and supporting Avante’s residential homes in relation to Care Quality Commission (CQC) compliance in medicine management and CQC inspection. Anne was appointed a special advisor on dementia with the CQC in 2013.
