Art Lover Resident Visits Art Gallery as Part of Seize the Day Initiative

An art enthusiast living at a Carterton home visited an art gallery as part of a Seize the Day initiative.

Doris ‘Paddy’ Jupp lives at MHA The Homestead and visited the SOTA Gallery in Witney.

Doris has a keen interest in art and has plenty of drawing and painting put up in her room.

The home provides residential and residential dementia care for 68 residents.

The Seize the Day initiative encourages residents to re-experience activities or events from the past or to do something they would like to do for the first time.

Kirsty Ridley, activity coordinator said: “Paddy had a great time at the art gallery and gave me a huge hug after.

“She loves being out and about and was delighted when I told her where we were going.

“She loves art, her room is covered in drawings, and she had a huge smile on her face when we left.

“She was just taking everything in and asked loads of questions to the owner of the art gallery.

“She was born in Paris and lived in London, so when she spotted the paintings of both Paris and London she really liked them.

“It was a great day and to see her reaction to the gallery was priceless.”
