Alzheimer’s Society Responds To Death Of Dale Griffin

Dale-Griffin-MAINIn response to the news that Dale Griffin, the drummer and founder member of 70s rock group Mott the Hoople, has died of Alzheimer’s disease.

Alzheimer’s Society’s Chief Executive, Jeremy Hughes, has said:

‘We are very sad to hear that Dale Griffin has died after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

‘Dale ‘Buffin’ Griffin was a valued and committed supporter of Alzheimer’s Society and instrumental in helping us raise awareness about dementia. As part of our annual Dementia Awareness Week, Dale spoke bravely about his personal experiences of living with dementia, determined to help those affected by it and improve general understanding. We remember Dale saying, ‘It is really important for people to ‘remember the person’ and look beyond someone’s diagnosis of dementia…Alzheimer’s stopped me in my tracks, but I wish people would realise that inside, I am still the same old ‘Buffin’ I always was.’

‘Our deepest condolences go to Dale’s partner Jean, who was a huge support to him, and his family, friends and fans.’
