Air, Sea and Land Challenge Kingsbridge 2014

Six members of staff from Quay Court Care Home in Kingsbridge are undertaking a trio of challenges to raise vital funds for people affected by dementia.

We are delighted to announce that staff from Quay Court Care Home in Kingsbridge are undertaking three heroic fundraising challenges for Alzheimer’s Society between 19 and 24 May.

The 6 intrepid fundraisers begin with climbing our Isles highest mountain; Ben Nevis. Next a courageous skydiving challenge awaits. The fundraising peaks with an against the tide kayaking from Salcombe to Kingsbridge on the English Channel, with the additional challenge of completing their nautical feat within two hours.

Dania Shaw; Community Fundraiser for Cornwall Devon and Somerset said

‘It’s great that 6 members of the Quay Court Care home in Kingsbridge, Devon are all giving their time to support Alzheimer’s Society in such a physically demanding way! One in three people over 65 will develop dementia. It is more than just memory loss; it robs people of their lives and has a devastating impact on families and loved ones. Although 6 of the team are actually taking part in this challenge, the whole care home is involved, with lots of other fundraising events being organised, and while the team are off climbing, jumping and kayaking the work doesn’t stop so those members of staff left behind are covering their shifts!

As a charity, we rely on the generosity of groups like Quay Court Care home to help us continue our vital work so that Alzheimer’s Society can continue leading the fight against dementia.’
