Afternoon Tea Parties Top The Menu For Care Homes As Unilever Food Solutions Joins Forces With NAPA
Afternoon tea fever is set to take hold in care homes throughout the country as part of a competition organised by NAPA (National Activity Providers Association) and supported by Unilever Food Solutions (UFS).
The two organisations have teamed up to launch NAPA’s first Best Ever Tea Party Award at its annual Gala on 17 September 2014.
To be eligible for the award, care homes must hold a tea party at any date up until 24 July 2014, although they may wish their event to take place over the NAPA Challenge weekend from 20-22 June 2014.
The Best Ever Tea Party award is a fantastic opportunity for care homes to be recognised for their efforts and to inspire others to host activities that encourage social engagement and interaction.
Along with the kudos of being named the winner, there are also some great prizes on offer for the winning care home. They will receive £250 to be spent on activities, along with a hamper filled with treats.
Sylvie Silver, director of NAPA, said: “We’re excited to be launching our first Best Ever Tea Party Award and to be working with UFS. Afternoon tea parties are a great way to bring residents together and turn the serving of afternoon tea into a sociable experience. Getting the local community involved can add to the sense of occasion and help to build new friendships.
“We would like to see residents involved in organising the tea parties and making sure their event is a day to remember. By inviting in the local
community people will be able to see first hand the great time residents have in the care home.”
James Allred, UFS channel marketing manager, said: “UFS is delighted to be working with NAPA to sponsor the Best Ever Tea Party Award. It’s in keeping with one of our major goals in the care sector – to promote activities that keep residents’ minds active and help care homes turn meal and snack-times into memorable experiences.”
UFS has produced a PG tips Biggest Ever Tea Party toolkit to give care homes inspiration for their events. The toolkits are packed with games, recipes and posters. For more information, call Monkey’s hotline on 0800 7833728 (opt 3).
