Priory Group Enhances NHS Partnership Working

The Priory Group is further strengthening its partnership working with the NHS to provide high quality mental health services.

The community mental health provision for 0-25 year olds in Birmingham, and the associated inpatient provision for 18-25 year olds is currently out to tender, led by Birmingham South Central Clinical Commissioning Group. In response to this opportunity, Birmingham Children’s Hospital has formed an innovative new partnership with The Priory Group, Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, The Children’s Society, Birmingham Metropolitan College and Beacon UK.

This exceptional alliance will combine national and international best practice, and a high-quality, innovative service offer aiming to deliver value around integrated community and inpatient mental health services.   The Priory Group’s role would be to utilise its expertise to provide inpatient services for young people aged between 18 and 25 years.

The six organisations, led by Birmingham Children’s Hospital, would be working together to improve the lives of some of the most vulnerable children and young adults in the city, through a modern proactive approach to early intervention, and a recovery based model of community mental health care.

Tom Riall, chief executive of The Priory Group, said:  “The Priory Group has considerable expertise in providing high quality mental health services and experience in working in partnership with public sector organisations.

“Partnerships between NHS organisations and the private sector are an important part of the Government’s strategy for ensuring excellence in service quality.  Through our collaborations we can deliver more responsive, better-designed mental health services and foster innovation to make a real difference to people’s lives.”
