Nurses Reunite After 20 Years To Surprise Colleague At Care Home

A touching surprise brought tears of joy to former nurse Maura O’Shea when four of her former nursing colleagues staged a surprise reunion.

Maura, aged 88, lives at Brookwater House Care Home in Enfield, where the care team arranged for her four old pals to make a special visit.

Former colleagues Doris Loke, Evelyn Cheng, Annie Hughes and Seeroj Mongru arrived with hugs and smiles to greet a stunned Maura.

The friends then headed to the home’s private dining room where they reminisced about their time caring for patients at Whittington Hospital in Archway between the 1980s and early 2000s.

Maura said: “I couldn’t believe it when the girls arrived – it was a truly wonderful surprise.

“It brought back some lovely memories of our time together, which were very special indeed.”

When the team at Brookwater House discovered it was Doris’ birthday, they quickly arranged for a cake to be served and laid on wine for the ladies.

Wellbeing Coach Aga Larushko said it was fantastic to see the joy their visit brought Maura.

Aga said: “It was incredible to see the bond between these ladies after so many years working together.

“Maura was the Nursing Officer at the hospital, and she managed the ladies, who were all ward sisters in different departments.

“She remembered making toast for them all every morning for breakfast and serving Irish coffees at Christmas to them as a treat.

“It was a truly lovely and heartwarming day.”
