Topping Out Ceremony Marks Milestone For Broughty Ferry Care Home

A special event has taken place to mark a milestone in the construction of a new Broughty Ferry care home.

The ‘topping out’ ceremony was held by Meallmore at the Sutherland House Care Home site on Dalhousie Road, which is due to open in spring 2027. The team was joined by Lara Bird, Member of Parliament (MP) for Arbroath and Broughty Ferry.

Ms Bird met senior members of the team from Meallmore, as well as the construction team from CHAP Group to speak about the plans for the future of Sutherland House and what it means for the local community.

The £14 million care home care home is being developed by Meallmore, one of Scotland’s leading providers of older person and specialist care. On completion, Sutherland House will provide residential, nursing and dementia care, supporting individuals living with frailty, dementia and age-related health needs.

The purpose-built luxury care home will feature private en-suite rooms for 54 residents and will create 60-70 jobs full-time equivalent jobs in the local area, including nurses, care assistants, administrators and managers.

Lara Bird, Member of Parliament (MP) for Arbroath and Broughty Ferry said: “Investment such as this is huge for Broughty Ferry.
