Warrington Care Home Throws Festival to Celebrate Much-Loved Resident

Residents, relatives, members of the local community and the care team came together at Three Bridges Care Home for ‘Cliff Fest’, a special summer celebration inspired by Cliff, a much-loved member of the Three Bridges community who sadly passed away earlier this year.

Known for his love of the outdoors and spending time with the people around him, Cliff inspired the team to create a celebration that reflected his personality and the things he enjoyed most.

The afternoon had all the ingredients of a summer festival, with music, food, games and plenty of laughter. Residents and their families took part in races, face painting, a raffle, and a tombola, while the ever-popular ‘Splash the Staff’ gave everyone the chance to throw water-soaked sponges at members of the care team.

An ice cream van provided a refreshing treat, while Al Hart from Music in Mind had residents and guests singing along to classic favourites including ‘Sweet Caroline’.

Jackie’s Baps mobile catering van also kept everyone fuelled throughout the celebrations.

The event was made possible in part by money Cliff had left to Three Bridges Care Home, adding an extra personal connection to a day created in his memory.

Among those taking part was Cliff’s daughter-in-law, Jill, who said: ‘I had a wonderful time. Cliff would have loved seeing all his friends and the care team having such a good time. It was lovely to see everyone coming together to remember him and enjoy themselves.’

Whitney Sampson, Home Manager at Three Bridges Care Home, said: ‘Cliff was a truly wonderful gentleman and someone who is very much missed by everyone at Three Bridges. He loved being outside, so Cliff Fest was the perfect way to remember him.

‘He would have loved seeing everyone together, enjoying the music, food and sunshine. There was plenty of laughter throughout the day, and that felt like a very fitting way to celebrate Cliff and the character he brought to the home.’

From singing along to Sweet Caroline to soaking up the sunshine, Cliff Fest was a celebration filled with the things Cliff enjoyed most – good company, being outdoors and having fun.

The celebration also gave residents, relatives and colleagues the chance to share memories, enjoy one another’s company and create new memories together, bringing the Three Bridges community together for a memorable summer afternoon.
