Springing into action – Woolmer Green Care Home Welcome baaa-by lamb

A care home in Woolmer Green welcomed a b-ewe-tiful furry friend into the home to celebrate the start of Spring

Residents at Care UK’s Knebworth care home, on London Road, were delighted when Lucy the lamb sprang into the home to help residents welcome in the new season.

Residents were able to interact with Lucy while learning more about their woolly new friend and the lambing season, prompting them to reminisce about their own experiences with animals in their younger years.

Joan Burnett, a resident at Knebworth, said: “It puts you off eating lamb now we’ve had a visit from Lucy!”

Vera Moreira-Henocq, Home Manager at Knebworth, said:
“Here at Knebworth, we’re always looking for exciting activities to put a smile on residents’ faces.

“Animals are a fantastic way of improving relaxation and wellbeing in older people. The residents loved meeting Lucy and having her visit was a great way of prompting social interaction, as residents shared cherished memories with each other.

“I’d like to extend a big thank you to Lucy and her owners for a lovely day – we’re definitely ready for spring now here at Knebworth!”

Knebworth is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential, nursing, dementia and short-term respite care. The care home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities and includes its own cinema, hair salon and café.
