101-Year-Old Portsmouth Care Home Resident Embarks On New Life in Portugal

Kathleen Davies, a resident at Hartford Court care home in Portsmouth, is living proof that it is never too late to embark on exciting new adventures in life.

At the age of 101, Kathleen bid farewell to everybody at Hartford Court this week to start a new life in Portugal at a care home in Caldas Da Rainha, close to her son, Nick and his partner.

Kathleen, who grew up in Warwickshire, was one of the first residents to move into Hartford Court in Catherington Place when it opened its doors in 2016.

All her friends at Hartford Court organised a farewell party for her with Prosecco and music, and lots of tears.

Of her new life adventure, Kathleen says she is very excited about moving to Portugal and woe betide anyone who tries to stop her!

Anni Williams at Hartford Court says: “We are so excited for Kathleen and her new adventure. We are all very sorry to see her go but we wish her well and hope she stays in touch with us to let us know how she is getting on in Portugal.”
