100th Birthday Celebrations At The Grange Care Home

Alice-Broughton-100th-BirthNot one, but two celebrations were recently held at The Grange Care Home in Colne, Leicester marking a milestone birthday for Resident, Alice Broughton. After turning 100, Alice has now and said that she cannot wait to reach 200. The first party was Alice’s pre-100th birthday celebration with family and friends; including some family members she hadn’t seen in a long time, followed by a second party on Alice’s actual birthday where she received a visit from the Mayor of Pendle. Alice was overwhelmed to see so many people turn up to her birthday celebrations, especially the family she had not seen for a while and she really enjoyed her visit by the Mayor, showing her humour by saying she would have liked to sit on his knee and pop the balloons.

Carolyn Weston, Personal activities leader, said “Alice thoroughly enjoyed her pre- 100th birthday celebrations with family and friends. We also had our weekly volunteer Oliver Payton helping out, and the fantastic accordion player Peter playing some really good tunes while Alice sang along merrily. A brilliant day was had by everyone all.”

Alice’s relatives said, “On behalf of all Alice’s family may I take this opportunity to express our heartfelt thanks for arranging such a memorable 100th Birthday for our mum;

We enjoyed the opportunity to be able to gather all the family to celebrate such a special event one which I am sure both the young and older members of Alice’s family will always remember. The thoughtfulness and attention to detail all came together to make a wonderful day. Thanks once again.”
