Visit Your Local Care Home On Care Home Open Day
Skills for Care is urging people to join in Care Home Open Day, as care homes across the country invite their communities to join in activities with the people who live and work there.
The theme of Care Home Open Day on Saturday 21 April is ‘Linking communities’, as scores of care homes throw open their doors to welcome individuals, groups and schools.
The annual event gives local people the chance to meet the unique characters who live in care homes who have all lived fascinating lives, and talk to the skilled and knowledgeable staff who work there.
Skills for Care knows how important this annual open day is to help care homes build strong relationships in the community and enrich the lives of their residents who love meeting the visitors.
Skills for Care’s CEO Sharon Allen said: “All too often people have walked or driven past their local care home, but never been in, so this is a great change for everyone to find out more about their local care home and the work being done there.
“We know that there’s lots of great work that goes on all year round in our care homes and this open day is all about inviting local people in to see that for themselves.”
