The Carer To Produce Special VE Day Digital Supplement – Call For Resident Stories
We are thrilled to announce that THE CARER will be producing a special digital supplement to commemorate Victory in Europe Day (VE Day) on May 8. This historic occasion marks the unconditional surrender of Germany’s military forces to the Allies in 1945, bringing an end to the conflict in Europe during World War II.
Here at THE CARER, we have been honoured to share the remarkable stories, memories, and tributes from care homes across the UK through our annual Remembrance editions.
In June 2024, we proudly published our D-Day 80th Anniversary Commemoration — a moving tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of the wartime generation.
To mark this momentous anniversary, we are calling on care homes to send in as many resident stories as possible, accompanied by photos, to help us create a bumper VE Day supplement. Whether it’s firsthand memories of May 8, 1945, stories of service, or reflections on what V-E Day meant to them, we would love to share and celebrate these treasured accounts.
How will your care home be marking this momentous day?
Do you have stories, photographs, or memories to share from your residents or staff?
Will you be holding special events, tea parties, coffee mornings or remembrance activities?
Whether it’s a single photo or a heartfelt recollection, every contribution helps keep the spirit of remembrance alive and honours the generation who gave so much.
Submit your resident stories and photos to veday@thecareruk.com
Let’s come together to honour and preserve the legacy of those who witnessed this historic day.
Deadline for submissions: Noon on 13th May 2025
