Residents Share Stories and Questions with Kate Osborne MP at Hawthorn Court Care Home

Residents and colleagues at HC-One’s Hawthorn Court Care Home in Hebburn, Tyne and Wear, were delighted to welcome Kate Osborne, Member of Parliament for Jarrow and Gateshead East, on Thursday 20th November for a special visit celebrating the home’s strong sense of community and quality care.

During her visit, Ms Osborne enjoyed brunch and a cup of coffee with residents before touring the home’s facilities, including the dining areas, lounge, and premier bedrooms. She spent time walking around the home, meeting residents in their own bedrooms and discussing the happenings of the world with them. This offered a wonderful opportunity for residents to share their thoughts, experiences, and interests in a relaxed and friendly setting.

A Q&A session followed, during which Kate kindly answered residents’ questions, engaging warmly with everyone present. In a particularly exciting moment, she also invited residents and colleagues to visit the House of Parliament in the future, an offer that was met with great enthusiasm.

Emma Critchlow-Riley, Home Manager at Hawthorn Court Care Home, said: “Visits like this are always a highlight for our residents and team. It was wonderful to welcome Kate Osborne to Hawthorn Court and share the sense of warmth and togetherness that makes our home so special. Enjoying brunch together, hearing residents’ questions answered, and receiving an invitation to the House of Parliament made the day even more memorable. Our colleagues take great pride in creating a caring, inclusive environment where residents truly feel part of a family.”

Kate Osborne, Member of Parliament for Jarrow and Gateshead East, said: “It was great to spend time at Hawthorn Court in Hebburn this morning and it was great to hear first hand how happy both the staff and residents seem.

“I had some excellent conversations with residents, including 97 year old Margaret and it was great to hear that residents continue to nominate staff for awards!

“The care home is taking part in #UKParliamentWeek next week and residents had a range of questions for me as MP on my work, on local investment, decision making and transport.”
