Residents Enjoy Salon-Style Experience as Sheraton Court Care Home Launches Nail Bar

Residents at HC-One’s Sheraton Court Care Home in Hartlepool, Teesside, have been enjoying a touch of glamour and plenty of social connection thanks to the launch of a new in-house Nail Bar.

The idea grew out of the home’s popular pamper sessions, led by the Wellbeing Team, who already use a mobile nail care cart to provide one-to-one treatments for residents. Over the Christmas period, the team decided to expand the experience by creating a dedicated Nail Bar, transforming a space within the home into a welcoming, salon-style setting.

Complete with comfy towels, a colourful display of nail polishes, drinks and snacks, and a designated waiting area, the Nail Bar quickly became a sociable hub. Residents, colleagues and visitors from across the home gathered together, chatting and laughing as they waited patiently for their turn.

The activity has now taken place twice, in different locations within Sheraton Court, and has proven extremely popular with residents.

Suzanne Newbury, Senior Wellbeing Coordinator at Sheraton Court, said:

“This has been such a lovely activity for everyone involved. Creating the Nail Bar meant residents could enjoy the full salon experience without leaving the comfort and familiarity of the home. It’s been wonderful to see so much social interaction, with residents, visitors and colleagues all coming together.”

Suzanne Newbury, Senior Wellbeing Coordinator, Hollie Russell, Wellbeing Coordinator, and Jess Armstrong, Care Assistant, helped support the sessions, ensuring every resident felt relaxed, included and pampered.

Jess Armstrong, Care Assistant commented:

“I think this is a really good idea – the set-up is great for our residents. It’s a wholesome experience of a salon in a known environment.”
