Residents At Lincoln Home Make Trip To Watch Victorious Imps Game As Part Of Seize The Day Initiative
Three residents living at a Lincoln home made their way over to LNER Stadium to watch Lincoln City in action.
Mavis Kirk, Marjorie Smith and Enid Hammerton all live at MHA Stones Place and are huge fans of Lincoln City.
They went to watch their beloved Lincoln City in action against Port Vale, with the Imps coming out on top with a 1-0 victory, much to the delight of the three ladies.
Mavis (97) would visit regularly in her younger days along with her father and it was her affiliation with the League 1 side that led to the home arranging for her, Marjorie and Enid to watch a game.
The Seize the Day initiative encourages residents to re-experience activities or events from the past or to do something they would like to do for the first time.
The trio were accompanied by Bev Murray, deputy home manager and Stacey Morriss, activity coordinator.
The trip included a meet and greet with current and former players, as well as seats in the legends lounge.
The matchday experience was arranged by former player, John Kennedy, who regularly visits MHA Stones Place.
Speaking after the visit Bev said:
“We had a great time visiting the LNER Stadium and to top off the visit, Lincoln City won the game.
“When we told the family members what we had arranged for the three, they were in disbelief and never thought their loved ones would be able to go watch a live game again,
“They loved it, the passion really kicked in when Lincoln City scored, and it was lovely to see them having such a great time.
“We were treated like royalty, we went up into the legends lounge via a VIP entrance, and we want to thank John for the experience.”
Stacey added: “The visit will be remembered by our residents for a long time, the staff at the club were amazing and made an announcement thanking us for visiting which was a nice touch.
“The three have scarves as souvenirs from the day and it was a nice trip down memory lane for them.”
