Read All About It – Care Home Residents Celebrate World Book Day
Bookshelves are bulging at Bayleaf Care Home in Huntingdon where book-worm residents were keen to get involved in World Book Day on March 5th.
Staff and residents at Bayleaf Care Home were joined by pupils from nearby St Johns C of E Primary School for an afternoon of storytelling. The pupils sat with the residents and read some of their favourite stories before the residents took some time to read their favourite stories to the children.
Bayleaf Care Home resident, Freda Smith said: “It was such a lovely afternoon reading with the children. I have always enjoyed books and love how they make your imagination run wild. World Book Day is a fantastic opportunity for us all to spend the day with our noses in our favourite books but today was even more special because we got to share stories with the children.”
Katie Wilkinson General Manager at the home, said: “It has been a brilliant day and we have all enjoyed swapping our stories with the amazing pupils from the school. Our residents love getting lost in a good book so they very much enjoyed reading excerpts from their favourite novels to the pupils and equally enjoyed listening to the stories form the children.”
