New Manager At Elgin Care Home
Jamie Taylor has been appointed as manager of Spynie care home in Elgin, bringing a wealth of experience, strong local ties and a clear vision for the future of the service.
She has worked in the care sector since the age of 18, beginning her career as a kitchen assistant before progressing through domestic and care roles to senior positions. She qualified as a nurse in 2014 and, by 2015, had moved into leadership roles within care settings.
Jamie said: “Spynie is very close to my heart because Elgin is my home town. I’ve always wanted to come back and be part of the local community in a meaningful way, and I’m incredibly proud to be taking on this role. I’ve worked in care all my adult life and I plan to continue progressing Spynie and remaining here long term.”
Looking ahead, Jamie has set out an ambitious vision for the home, with a particular focus on dementia care. While she has never formally specialised, her background in mental health nursing has inspired plans to position Spynie as a leading dementia care home within Moray.
She added: “I would love to see Spynie take the lead in Moray for dementia care. One of my key ambitions is to develop an all-male dementia wing because to my knowledge, there is currently no all-male dementia provision in Moray, and with only limited dementia beds available locally, there is a clear need in the sector. I would be incredibly proud for Spynie to help fill that gap and offer something truly meaningful for men living with dementia.”
Steve Massey, operations manager at Intobeige, which operates Spynie Care Home, welcomed Jamie to the role.
He said: “Jamie brings outstanding experience, strong leadership skills and a genuine passion for high-quality care. Her track record speaks for itself, and her connection to the local community makes her an excellent fit for Spynie. We’re excited to support her vision for the home and are confident she will lead the service from strength to strength.”
