New Manager Appointed at The Hall in Thornton-le-Dale

The Hall care home in Thornton-le-Dale, part of Park Lane Healthcare, has welcomed a new home manager following the retirement of long-standing manager Diane Hagan at the end of 2025.

The Hall provides residential care for older people in a historic setting at the heart of the village, with a strong emphasis on personalised support, community connection and helping residents to feel at home.

Jess Door has joined The Hall as manager and has already begun settling into the role, spending time getting to know residents, staff and relatives, and familiarising herself with the day-to-day life of the home.

Jess brings a strong personal commitment to care, shaped by her own experiences from an early age. As a child, she helped care for her mother during a long illness, an experience that influenced her decision to pursue a career in the sector. She believes good care should always be personal, guided by how she would want her own parents to be treated. Her focus is on creating a calm, supportive environment where residents feel safe, respected and able to enjoy everyday life.

Jess said: “Joining The Hall has been a really positive experience. I have been warmly welcomed by residents, families and colleagues, and I am looking forward to building strong relationships as I settle into the role. For me, good care is about understanding each person as an individual and creating an environment where people feel comfortable, valued and at home.”

Jess takes over following the retirement of Diane Hagan, who spent 15 years with Park Lane Healthcare and played a key role in shaping The Hall. Diane remained with the home through the festive period to support a smooth transition.

Chris Lane, chairman of Park Lane Healthcare, said: “Jess is a fantastic addition to The Hall. She brings the right blend of compassion, experience and leadership, and she shares our values around person-centred care. We are confident she will build on the strong foundations already in place. I would also like to thank Diane for her outstanding contribution over many years and wish her a very happy retirement.”
