HC-One care homes across the UK are tuning up for an unforgettable World Music Day on Saturday, June 21, 2025, by transforming their homes into a vibrant hub of rhythm, melody, and connection.

The day promises to ignite the spirits of residents and colleagues, as they dive into the universal language of music with live performances, toe-tapping dances, and heartfelt sing-alongs – all to celebrate the magic music weaves into their lives.

HC-One’s Alexander Care Home in Lewisham, London, welcomed in a special guest in the form of a musical specialist, singer and keyboard player, Eleanor from the Music Specialists Team. Eleanor visited the home with her keyboard to showcase her amazing musical talents by performing a rendition of songs and putting a smile of everyone’s faces.

Residents, eagerly waiting, were swept away by a cascade of beloved hits, including funk’s groovy beats, jazz’s soulful swing, rock’s electric edge, and the timeless charm of classical and folk.

Eleanor visited Alexander Care Home and took the time to chat with each of the residents. She encouraged them to sing and dance along to a diverse playlist of funk, jazz, rock, classical, folk, techno, blues and much more, promoting gentle exercise.

Anthony Warner, HC-One’s Alexander Care Home Manager, said:
“Residents really enjoyed celebrating World Music Day, by listening to tunes, dancing along to their favourite songs and even singing along.

“Music provides a number of positive benefits to our residents including reminiscing opportunities, improves moods, and boosts creativity, socialisation and mental stimulation.”

HC-One’s Winters Park Care Home in Penrith, Cumbria, who are known for welcoming in musical performers and entertainers to their home, recently welcome a special visit from Ukes4Fun, a ukulele group known for their lively sessions across the North East and Cumbria.

Afterwards the team from Ukes4Fun spent time with the residents chatting to them about the songs that have soundtracked their lives, from old favourites to personal milestones.

Egle Orante, HC-One’s Winters Park Wellbeing Coordinator, said:
“World Music Day was a great way to uplift spirits, encourage social interactions and trigger positive memories especially for residents living with dementia. Residents really enjoyed listening, singing, playing instruments and dancing along to the live performance by Ukes4Fun.”

Whilst those residents who preferred country, western swing and R&B genres of music enjoyed listening and dancing along to Bill Haley and His Comets hits including ‘Crazy, Man Crazy’ from their era as an influential American rock and roll band.

Ana Cormos, HC-One’s The Applewood Care Home Manager, said:
