Festive Cheer at Quarry Hall as Vaughan Gething MS Joins Christmas Activities
Residents and colleagues at HC-One Wales’s Quarry Hall Care Home in St Mellons, Cardiff, enjoyed a special visit on Friday 5th December as Vaughan Gething, MS for Cardiff South and Penarth, spent time with the home’s close-knit community.
During his visit, Mr Gething toured Quarry Hall’s welcoming facilities, including its cinema, nail bar, pub, tearoom, hair salon, comfortable lounges, ensuite bedrooms, and the beautifully maintained gardens. He met with residents and colleagues to learn more about the variety of care and activities on offer at the 86-bed home, which provides high-quality residential, nursing and dementia care.
In addition to joining residents for singing and dancing, Mr Gething spent time discussing a range of important sector issues with colleagues. These included the cost of care, the complexity of delivering high-quality services, challenges surrounding overseas recruitment, the essential role of social care nurses and the growing demands on dementia support. The conversations offered valuable opportunities to highlight the realities and pressures faced by those working across the social care landscape.
The visit provided an uplifting experience for everyone involved and highlighted the strong sense of friendship, warmth and community that defines life at Quarry Hall.
Carla Arcanjo, Home Manager at Quarry Hall, said:
