Croydon Care Home Celebrates Dementia Accreditation Award With Cabinet Member For Health & Social Care
Staff at RMBI Care Co. Home James Terry Court, a care home in South Croydon, has received an EMBRACE Dementia Accreditation for outstanding support, care and attention dedicated to residents living with dementia and their loved ones.
The accreditation was revealed by the Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Social Care, Councillor Yvette Hopley, in an official ceremony. She says: “Achieving this dementia accreditation demonstrates the excellent work that the staff carry out to ensure that residents enjoy a high quality of life at James Terry Court. You should all feel very proud.”
Diane Rumsby, Home Manager at James Terry Court, says:
“We are delighted to be awarded with the dementia accreditation. We wouldn’t have obtained this accreditation without the continuous support from our team and our Dementia Lead, Nicholas Stechman. We believe that people living with dementia can still lead active and fulfilled lives, and we support our residents in line with that belief.”
The Dementia Accreditation has been created by Anne Child, RMBI Care Co.’s Pharmacy and Dementia Specialist Lead. Anne has received an MBE for her services to dementia and is a special advisor to the Care Quality Commission. Together with Lucy Tupenny, RMBI Care Co.’s Assistant Director of Quality and Governance, they aim to raise and maintain high standards of dementia care using a suite of dementia modules to support care staff. Some of the modules have also been externally accredited by the CPD Certification Service.
Anne mentions: “We have seen our residents find a new lease of life during this culture and environment change and we have created strong emotional connections with them.” James Terry Court is one of several RMBI Care Co. Homes to receive a dementia accreditation within the charity’s portfolio.
