Care Home Welcomes Back Morpeth First School Pupils for Joyful Intergenerational Visit
HC-One’s Foxton Court Care Home in Morpeth, Northumberland, was filled with smiles, music, and laughter this week as residents warmly welcomed back children from Morpeth First School and Natasha Storey from The Lisa Project for a heart-warming intergenerational activity session.
The visit brought together young pupils and residents for a lively morning of singing, learning, and shared connection. Led by Natasha from The Lisa Project, the group enjoyed interactive songs and learned basic sign language, allowing everyone, young and old, to pick up new skills together in a fun and engaging way.
Intergenerational activities like this offer valuable benefits to both residents and children. Spending time together boosts wellbeing, encourages cognitive stimulation, and helps reduce feelings of loneliness among residents. Children, meanwhile, build empathy and communication skills, while learning to value and understand older generations. These shared experiences foster meaningful connections that strengthen the wider community.
Residents at Foxton Court expressed how uplifting the morning had been, with many commenting on the joy and energy the children brought into the home. Team members also highlighted how enriching it is to see friendships form across generations.
Joanne Bulford, Home Manager at HC-One’s Foxton Court Care Home said:
“We are absolutely delighted to welcome the children back to Foxton Court. Their visits mean so much to our residents, and it’s wonderful to see the room light up when they walk in. Learning songs and sign language together has been fantastic, and we’re very grateful to Natasha and The Lisa Project for leading such meaningful sessions.”
