Care Home Resident Thrilled To Be Part Of ‘Roaring Crowd’ At Football Wish
A lifelong football fan embraced some matchday energy during a special wish fulfilled by her care home team.
Angela, who lives in Kenwith Castle care home in Abbotsham, spoke with the team about her passion for football, having travelled all over the world to support Watford, her beloved team play.
In response, the Kenwith Castle team got in touch with their local team, Bideford FC, and arranged for Angela to attend one of their matches, which saw them defeat Didcot Town 2 – 0. Angela also got the opportunity to meet the team alongside Rob, another resident from Kenwith Castle who is also a keen football fan.
The special visit was arranged as part of Kenwith Castle’s ‘Make a Wish’ initiative which encourages residents to share hobbies and passions they once enjoyed but are now unable to pursue without the home’s support. The care home team then works to bring the special wish to life.
Angela said: “As I walked up to the pitch, I could hear the roar of the crowd. It brought back wonderful memories of walking through the turnstiles at Watford’s Vicarage Road Stadium. I was very excited to watch the game and enjoyed the smell of the hotdogs we ate at half time as well.”
Jo Passmore, Home Manager at Kenwith Castle, said:
“It was a privilege to watch Angela’s face light up as she heard the roar of the crowds chanting and cheering at the match. Creating the opportunity for Angela and her friend Rob to be part of the exciting matchday energy is exactly what our ‘Make a Wish’ initiative was made for. At Kenwith Castle, we love enabling our residents to continue exploring their own hobbies, interests and passions, while also delivering great care.”
