Care Home Launches Wellbeing Initiative For Resident

Staff at Barchester’s Bayleaf Care Home in Huntingdon have collaborated with a local fitness instructor to launch a wellbeing initiative for one of the much-loved residents.

Clive Edwards moved into Bayleaf Care Home in September 2025 and very quickly became an integral part of the home. Clive is a big football follower and is a life-long Tottenham fan so the staff Bayleaf along with personal trainer Liam Rushmer decided to get together to give Clive, and the other Bayleaf residents, a special treat.

Former Professional Footballer, Junior McDougald, who grew up a few hundred yards away from Bayleaf Care Home and was a youth player for Tottenham was a very special visitor to the home where he met with Clive and the other residents. He spoke about his career before joining in with seated football and seated tennis activities with the residents.

This wasn’t the end of the surprise for Clive though. Ex Tottenham and England footballer, Darren Bent, heard that Clive was a big Tottenham fan so he sent Clive a personal video message.

This is all part of an initiative that Bayleaf Care Home is running based around people coming into the home to spend time with the residents and talk about their own experiences before nominating the next person who will come into the home.

General Manager of Bayleaf Care Home, Katie Wilkinson said:
“We are so grateful for Junior for giving up his time to come and see Clive and the other residents and also Darren for his video message. It really made Clive’s day”.
