Remembrance Day – We Want to Hear Your Stories

The Carer has, in recent years, been proud to honour the service and sacrifice of all those who defended, and continue to defend, our freedoms.

We consider it a great privilege to share the meaningful and often deeply moving ways in which care homes across the UK commemorate Remembrance Day, ensuring that the courage, dedication and sacrifices of those who served are never forgotten.

As we approach this year’s commemorations, communities throughout the country will once again come together to pay their respects. Remembrance Sunday falls on 8 November 2026, followed by Armistice Day on Wednesday, 11 November, when the nation will observe a two-minute silence at 11am.

These important occasions provide an opportunity to remember the Armed Forces and their families from Britain and the Commonwealth, members of the emergency services, and all those who have lost their lives through conflict or terrorism.

Each year, we are honoured to share the commemorations taking place in care homes with our readers across THE CARER’s print, digital and online platforms. The response to previous supplements has been deeply moving, highlighting the compassion, creativity and respect shown by care home residents, staff and local communities.

We would love to feature your care home’s Remembrance commemorations in our 2026 digital supplement. Here is a link to 2025’s supplement.

Whether you are organising a special service, creating remembrance displays or memory boards, sharing residents’ personal wartime experiences, welcoming veterans, crafting poppies, or paying tribute through music, poetry and reflection, we would be delighted to hear from you.

We warmly invite care homes across the UK to send us their stories, photographs, activities and tributes, celebrating the many different ways residents and staff come together to remember those who served and sacrificed so much.

Please send us your photographs and stories for inclusion in THE CARER’s Remembrance 2026 digital supplement to remembrance@thecareruk.com

Let us come together once again to remember, reflect and pay tribute.
