Care Home’s Cycle Marathon For British Heart Foundation
A CYCLING marathon is taking place this week at a Stockton-on-Tees care home in support of the British Heart Foundation’s Wear it Beat it campaign.
Ingleby Care Home, on Lamb Lane, is keeping a stationary exercise bike running for 20 hours between Monday and Friday, 1st to 5th February.
The care home is inviting the local community to take part in cycling slots between 11am and 3pm each day and has so far raised over £100 for the charity.
Residents’ family and friends, staff and local community groups and businesses have already pledged their support to keep the bike going and help raise funds.
Kirsty Walsh, activity coordinator at Ingleby Care Home, said: “We want to raise as much money as possible for the British Heart Foundation by taking on a 20 hour cycling marathon. But we need help.
“We’re inviting the local community to take part in the cycling. We’re only asking for 15 minutes of effort per cyclist, so please lend a hand and take to the pedals.”
The care home will be taking donations throughout the fundraising event. However, those unable to visit the care home but still wanting to donate are encouraged to text RED to 70060 to pledge £3.

The Wear It Beat It campaign aims to raise money to support the British Heart Foundation’s life saving research. Heart and circulatory disease takes the lives of more than 400 people in the UK each day.
