Stars Call On G8 To Tackle Dementia

alzheimers-1Actress Carey Mulligan, was joined by a host of other charity ambassadors including Sir Tony Robinson, Kevin Whately and Angela Rippon at a Christmas carol concert.

The event, held at St Paul’s Church, Knightsbridge, comes a week ahead of the world’s first G8 Summit on dementia, which is taking place on 11 December.

Many of the star supporters will be sending messages to the G8 ahead of next week’s summit, calling for them to step up and tackle dementia. Alzheimer’s Society will deliver the calls to action via Twitter to @G8 and are asking the public to add their voices by tweeting @G8 too.

Alzheimer’s Society Ambassador, Sir Tony Robinson, whose parents both had dementia will send G8 a message saying:

‘In memory of my mum and dad, promise me you’ll find a cure for dementia.’

Alzheimer’s Society Ambassador, Kevin Whately, will tell G8:

‘My mum died with dementia. I need you to step up and find a cure.’

Alzheimer’s Society Ambassador, Angela Rippon’s message for G8 is:

‘My mum had dementia. I need you to make it a priority and find a cure.’

Jeremy Hughes, Chief Executive at Alzheimer’s Society said:

The high profile supporters who attended the carol concert at St Paul’s Church, Knightsbridge, were: Carey Mulligan, Sir Tony Robinson, Kevin Whatley, Fiona Phillips, Angela Rippon, Sharon Maughan, Jamie Anderson, Mat Whitecross, Josette Simon, Danny Foster and Judy Holt.
