Sanctuary Care Residents Transported To Day ‘Down Under’

Sanctuary-Care-Residents-Residents were transported down under when Australia Day came to their Stourport-on-Severn care home earlier this week.

The team at Sanctuary Care’s Ravenhurst Residential Care Home organised a fun-filled day for their residents – celebrating all things great and good about Australia.

The home was bursting with colour, adorned with flags and inflatable kangaroos, there was an authentic didgeridoo for the residents to try their hand at playing and they painted boomerangs.

Of course, no Australia Day would be complete without cork hats – also known as Hobbly-Bobs.

After an exhausting day deep in the Worcestershire outback, the residents and team sat back and enjoyed an ‘Aussie’ supper of burgers and hot dogs.

Following Monday’s event the home’s activities leader Carla Siwicki said: “The residents and team had a brilliant day – there was a fantastic atmosphere with lots of smiles and laughter.”

Sunday 26 January is officially Australia Day, a national day where people from the world’s sixth largest country celebrate what it is to be Australian.

The day was part-funded by the Community Investment Fund at Sanctuary Group, the parent company of Sanctuary Care. The event was just one of many across the UK to benefit from the fund, which offers financial support to groups that need help to deliver activities within their local community.
