This new SCIE report starts a conversation about what is good practice in the management and implementation of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) and how to protect the human rights of vulnerable people.
DoLS came into effect in April 2009. This is the first attempt to collect together examples of good practice that have emerged, together with tools for evaluation of practice. It shows a collection of what good practice in the implementation of DoLS looks like.
The report includes the roles of clinical commissioning groups and wider local authority governance. The resource is structured with freestanding sections on hospitals, care homes, supervisory bodies, assessors and authorisers. For more information visit
