Meridian Shows Community Spirit

Meridian-Shows-Community-SpMeridian Healthcare in Tameside have provided sponsorship for Community Spirit in the Portland Basin.

Meridian homes have  sponsored a seat on the narrow boat Community Spirit in Tameside. Located in the Portland Basin, the narrow boat offers a free day out for disabled or disadvantaged people from around the Greater Manchester area.

Called Community Spirit, the local narrow boat is operated by East Manchester Community Boat Project. The boat is moored on the Ashton Canal at Portland Basin in Ashton-Under-Lyne in Tameside.

Representatives from Meridian: Manager Mrs Marie McPherson and Activities Co-ordinator Mrs Tina Parker, both from Greatwood House Care Centre in Denton, attended an event for the sponsors. The receiving a sponsors certificate from EMCBP President, Mr Nigel Anderson.

The canal boat has been enjoyed by residents from various Meridian care homes within Tameside. “Our residents have enjoyed days out on the canal in Ashton so supporting the East Manchester Canal Boat Project fits perfectly with our own community spirit initiatives.” commented Head of Marketing Tessa Matthews.
