Philips Court care home, which is part of Akari Care and is located in Gateshead, held a special party to celebrate its residents’ October birthdays, which amounted to the ripe old age of 408.
Residents Jean Martin (91), Violet Allison (74), Robert Wilkinson (81), Barbara Hay (83) and Edward Tennant (79), were joined by their family and friends, residents and members of staff at Philips Court and enjoyed a birthday party with refreshments and a birthday cake big enough for the five of them.
Philips Court provides nursing and residential care for up to 75 people. Care is provided for older people who have dementia.
Philips Court aims to maintain lifestyles as similar as possible to those enjoyed at home, with an extensive range of activities which individuals can enjoy and benefit from.
Karleen Taylor-Williams, Manager at Philips Court, said: “We thought that it would be a great idea to celebrate all the birthdays in October with one big party- it’s not every day that you get to celebrate a 408 year old birthday! It got lots of our residents’ relatives and friends together and made it a great celebration, which everyone really enjoyed.”
