Fit And Proper Person Regulations

The Department of Health has published a consultation on a new legal duty that means health and social care organisations registered with CQC will have to ensure that directors, including Board members (or equivalent) meet a new fit and proper person test.

This approach will mirror the existing requirement for Registered Managers to undertake a fitness test, that is carried out by CQC. The consultation consists of 12 multiple choice questions, with the opportunity to provide further details if desired.

The Skills Academy will be responding on behalf of its members. If you would like to contribute, please send your comments to Caroline Bernard, Head of Policy and Communications, at caroline.bernard@nsasocialcare.co.uk by Monday 14 April.

The consultation on the fit and proper person regulations can be found at www.gov.uk/government/consultations/fit-and-proper-persons-test-regulations
