Care Management Group (CMG), the leading care provider for people with learning disabilities and associated complex needs, has announced that John Ransford CBE will join its leadership team as a Non-Executive Director. The appointment will be effective from January 2014.
John, who has been awarded a CBE for services to social care, brings with him a wealth of experience and an outstanding track record in the sector. He is the former Group Chief Executive of the Local Government Association, and has also served as Chief Executive of North Yorkshire County Council, the largest geographical unit of local government in England. His expertise is reflected by his status as one of only two life members of the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services, and serves as trustee of two health and social care-related charities. John also served as the Chair of Board of Governors of the National Institute for Social Work from 1998 – 2005.
John’s appointment comes after CMG’s highly successful transformation programme, led by Court Cavendish. Court Cavendish is the turnaround specialist for the health and social care sector, which has driven improvements with its unique, compassionate and quality-focused approach to the rebuilding of failing health and social care businesses. The appointment reflects CMG’s commitment to putting experience at the heart of its leadership team, to the benefit of service users and their families.
CMG is transforming support for people with learning disabilities and has developed a number of industry-leading initiatives to drive up standards across the sector. The care provider was fundamental in the development of ‘The Driving Up Quality Code’, launched by former care Minister Paul Burstow MP at the House of Commons this summer and endorsed by around 80% of providers in England.
Dr Chai Patel, Non-Executive Director of CMG and Chairman of Court Cavendish, said:
“John Ransford has unparalleled experience in social care, and as a leader in local government. I’m delighted to make this announcement, and we are looking forward to welcoming him to the board as we continue to drive up standards in the health and social care sector.
“This is a key appointment for CMG and is testament to our absolute commitment to putting fantastic care at the heart of our organisation”
John Ransford CBE said:
“I am terrifically excited to take up my new role with CMG, a leader in the health and social care sector. CMG already has a set of tremendously accomplished leaders on its board, and I very much share their commitment to ensuring service users are given the highest levels of care and support.”
