Care Home Staff Reach For The Sky
In Charity Challenge

Fearless four take on reverse bungee in aid of children’s hospital

Dare-devil staff at a local care home are buckling up to take on a terrifying challenge for charity.

A fearless team of four from Deangate care home in Barnsley have volunteered to be catapulted high into the sky in a reserve bungee ride to raise money for Leeds Children’s Hospital.

The courageous quartet is made up of senior carers Annmarie Dodd and Chantelle Peacock along with kitchen assistant Mandy Mills and care home cook Carol Wright.

The fundraiser, which takes place on Sunday 13 April at the Chestnut Tree in Barugh Green, Barnsley, will also include activities for children.

All monies raised will go towards buying specialist treatment equipment in the new Liver and Renal Unit at Leeds Children’s Hospital.

Home Manager Christine Robinson is encouraging members of the public to come along and support the team.

She said: “At Deangate, we are always coming up with fundraising ideas and getting involved in charity activity – but this latest challenge takes things to new heights.

“The bravest members of the team will be taking part in a terrifying reverse bungee jump this month to raise money for a wonderful cause.

“Staff, residents and their families will be there on the big day to support our charity team and we’re hoping members of the public will come along so there is a big crowd cheering them on down on the ground.”

Deangate provides care for 50 residents and includes a specialist dementia unit.  A varied activities schedule ensures that – as well as receiving the highest standard of care – residents are offered the chance to get involved in activities which keep them mentally and physically active and engaged.
